The earliest type of poem I was exposed to was a Haiku. A Japanese style of poem that follows a 5 - 7 -5 syllables scheme. It seems so simple, but yet so troublesome. When creating my own haikus in fourth grade, I ran into the problem of keeping that syllable scheme. My poems always had either an extra syllable or missing one syllable.
A haiku that I would like to share is "Life and Death" by Brendon Shakewaite.
"for all life on earth
death is inevitable
so make life last long"
I just find this poem to be appropriate for the times we're living in right now. No one knows when or how they're going to die, so it's best if you try to "make life last long".
